Bell-like Melodies to Lush Textures & Suspenseful Pads -
Tone Bells & Textures is a cinematic instrument built from a set of Tone Educator Bells dating back to the early 1970s—an instrument I have used to shape and augment many of my recordings through subtle layers, melodic accents, and harmonic color. It’s worked so well that I finally decided to captured in detail using both rubber and yarn mallets.
Each strike reveals a different character, from defined articulation to softer, more rounded tones. These recordings were further shaped through carefully chosen microphones and select guitar pedal processing and crazy stretching and manipulating to expand the palette into something that moves well beyond the original instrument while still preserving its organic core.
At the heart of the plugin are two fully independent sound engines designed for flexibility and exploration:
The A Engine focuses on shorter, articulate bell tones—ideal for melodies, rhythmic accents, and adding clarity to dense arrangements.
The B Engine opens up into a world of pads and evolving textures, offering everything from subtle harmonic beds to expansive, cinematic layers. Each engine includes its own dedicated effects, allowing sounds to be shaped individually or blended together seamlessly, giving you precise control over how the instrument sits and evolves within your mix.
To push the creative possibilities even further, Tone Bells & Textures includes 11 custom impulse responses, ranging from natural spatial environments to more abstract, textural spaces. The result is an instrument that can move effortlessly between delicate, bell-like motifs, lush ambient pads, and darker, suspense-driven atmospheres. Whether used in indie productions, ambient works, or film and television scoring, it’s designed to inspire new ideas while remaining deeply rooted in a distinctive, character-rich sound.
