This is EP was inspired by a humidifier...yes, I said a humidifier.
I have a full video on Youtube about this but the short story is I recorded the sound of pouring water into the humidifier for another project and one night I got bored and loaded that sound into a plugin called PaulXStretch. PXS lets you stretch a sound basically as long as you would like and turn it into some very unique and etherial sounds.
The sounds I was developing were so cool I decided to make an instrument out of them, combine them with my organ/guitar pedal rig and create some improvised songs where I manipulate the sounds in real-time. It was part serendipity and part exploration of a new way of working for me.
Everything is a live performance!
I thought the songs and sounds were interesting so I made a full Youtube video about the process and I'm releasing it as an EP.
Calm Winds: The name really says it all. Calm and gently evolving.
Glass Winds: This starts out a bit more dystopian and slowly transforms into a very etherial.
Kinetic Mist: The sound has a lot of movement, distortion and includes rhythmic elements with a lot of energy.
Echos of What Was: This is the score that goes under the rest of the video. I liked how it turned out so I'm adding it to the collection.
